Preventing hate speech online and at football matches | The Fare Network

In the footballworld, now unfortunately we
still see far right activity among fan groups. Incidents of hate speech online
is homophobic and antisemitic abuse, anti-refugees display and Neo-Nazi symbols and we see that this abuse
and online hate speech are reaching a huge audience
and this is something we want to target. Fare has created a global guide on
hate speech, signs and symbols in football, we aim to develop a tool that detects
and identifies online hate speech because we have the
Google.org Impact Challenge we can feed this knowledge
into the tool that we want to develop. The ideal situation is that this could prevent
youngsters from getting radicalised because football is a very powerful tool to create social inclusion
and bring people together.
